Website & IT

Welcome to the 52nd Rotary International, District 3450, District Conference 2012 website.

Our IT team hope that the features and facilities here will make your attendance at the District Conference enjoyable, informative and useful.

We have taken a fresh look at how we organize the event, data, registration PR and are pooling the resources of our Organizing Committee and its extensive experience to bring you the best information we can.

Our focus as the IT department is to reflect the ambitions of the conference and make it easy for you to attend.

We made a few design choices early on:

Notably that Registration On-Line and payment On-Line is a requirement.

While we anticipate this may be a problem for some let me first explain why we did it and then how we will try to mitigate any problems.

  • On-Line Registration allows us to budget properly for the event, and to minimize waste.
  • On-Line Payment allows us to receive timely and correct payment for the services we offer, and to pay our bills on time.
  • To let our Registrar know who is coming and enable him to contact attendees with timely updates and messages.

This is what we are doing to help:

  • On-Line Registration, we have provided a Group Registration option. A Club Member or Official can register multiple members at once, handy for those who are more organized than myself.
  • Individual Membership registration or Group has been simplified by the automatic calculation of fees and drop down menus for choices. This replaces the fax form we used before.
  • Once a member registers with the system the Website can offer them more extensive information. To get it you must log on. We will monitor how registrants are managing this and change things to make it easier where we can.
  • We will have your email address on hand after registration, so we can contact you if needed.
  • You can make changes to your registration up to the day of attendance. The data we have is 'Live'.

We expect there will be a few issues, so we are recruiting helpers in each Area who can assist in the process. We will make it obvious in the registration process how to contact these helpers.

We have devoted a large part of the website to the Rotaractors, this year. New Generation is one of the themes in the Conference. So we are proud of the work of this group and we want to showcase it. Much of the help in organizing the event will come from these young people.

We will make available information from the House of Friendship through the website, so you can showcase yours Club's work.

The Spouse Program will be updated as new items are added and information will be down loadable for you.

The website will change over time, we will add more information, on speakers and House of Friendship, PR, media, maps and help fro Delegates plus more things as we can get them up and running. As an example we are looking at linking into FaceBook and Twitter to keep thing interesting and relevant. More on this later.

So we hope to see you at the Conference, we hope we can set a new record for attendance and a successful conference.

With your support I am sure we can.

Many thanks

Yours in Rotary
